Having just started my third term as county councillor for this division, I should like to extend a huge thank you to the constituents who put their faith in me on May 1st to do the right thing and look after their interests.

The first meeting of the new council is next week, but it is expected that no clear alliance to guide the county for the new term will be formed quite yet. One thing is for sure, the new term is likely to see a continuation of 5% annual council tax rises and more cuts to our public services.

However, having said that the highlights of the past year have included the reopening and retention of Launceston Leisure centre, the retention of Launceston Adult Learning Centre and Launceston Library, all of which I have spoken passionately in favour of in the county chamber. Also, the well publicised campaign for Plusha junction.

I very much regret that it has taken the lives of local people to get we are with this, but with a significant budget now committed for an official project team in County Hall I can only keep doing more of the same, in terms of pressurising for what we all have been demanding for many years.

It is a great honour to be trusted with your vote and I will continue to do my very best for Altarnun and Stoke Climsland ward for the next four years.
